Deskan Institute & Training, Inc. provides clinics for medical care, evaluation, consultation, health education, and prevention. The clinic also offers donated reading glasses to those in need, and a local pharmacist dispenses over-the-counter medications.
We operate in various locations, including Haiti (following the earthquake), Belize, Grenada, Dominica, St. Vincent, Guyana, South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, the Bahamas, and more.
Participants in our programs work in small clinics, hospitals, schools, and churches located in rural areas, providing free medical care to thousands of patients in need.
Our primary commitment is to offer surgical and medical care for children, enhancing their opportunities for a better life.
Deskan Institute & Training, Inc. delivers free healthcare and supplies to underserved communities.
Our medical missions involve bringing hundreds of donated eyeglasses and purchasing medications for various conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, asthma, gastritis, peptic ulcers, common skin issues, and pelvic or vaginal infections.
Recently, we have expanded our services to include dental extractions, made possible by resolute volunteers who want to help others.
Participants on our mission trips are responsible for covering their own airfare and hotel fees.
Deskan Institute provides transportation to and from the airport both in the U.S. and at our destination, as well as three meals a day during the mission.
In addition to providing free healthcare, we focus on educating local communities about lifestyle changes.
We teach residents about healthy eating, exercise, and other simple but effective measures to complement their medications.
Running these mission trips can be costly; the expenses for purchasing supplies, medications, transportation, and meals can add up quickly.
We rely on fundraising activities to support these expenses. We operate without salaries, ensuring that all funds collected go directly to our charitable efforts.
Over the past decade, our OUTREACH TEAM MEMBERS have brought medical services to thirteen countries to enrich the lives of both the givers and receivers.
Deskan has provided clothing to local organizations dedicated to the cause of “Second Chances for Individuals”
This includes support for women affected by domestic violence, Child Abuse/Rape/Human Trafficking in-home foster care services, and families who have experienced natural disasters such as floods, fires, or loss of home. Our efforts have reached areas including New Orleans, New Jersey, Tennessee, Mississippi, Haiti, Guyana, and Belize in Central America.
